BIBLE LESSON:

  • BIBLE:

Let’s hear from the Bible. I am going to read from Psalm 139 (everybody say Psalm) This is what David says in his song to God:

Lord, you know all about me. You know when I sit down and when I get up. You know my thoughts from far away. You know where I go and where I lie down. You know everything I do.

Q: What does God know about David? (A: everything)

Q: Does God know everything about us too?(A: yes, He made us, he knows the best!)

Q: Does God only know what we tell him? (A: no, he knows us best)

God wants to help you to come alive fully. You can trust him because he knows you best. He knows all about you and he still enjoys hearing all about you and your thoughts. We can talk to God about our feelings like David did in this song.

  • CHALLENGE:

Your challenge for this week: Talk to Jesus about how you feel

Like this: act out how you would do this

  • SETTING:

Have kids lay down and listen to the song

Spread out across picnic mats

Play song: O, COME TO THE ALTAR

  • ACTIVATION: Hand out little papers and markers and facilitate that kids can write down or draw feelings that are hard for them and then crumple up the paper and come leave it at the cross in the basket in the front.

Draw a picture of you and Jesus, write down or draw all the things he knows about you.

MINISTRY / RESPONSE:

  • Come to the altar - song playing in the background

  • Write down emotions on paper / rocks and go leave it with Jesus. Place a cross at the front of the room and put a basket at its foot. Then have the kids bring their 'emotions' and leave it at the cross.

  • NEEDED:

Cross + basket
